While the stores are filled with every gift idea imaginable, and the radio plays those 'golden oldies' from now through New Years, Thanksgiving and Christmas bring mixed feelings for many of us. And, for those who have lost loved ones in recent times, the holidays are especially tough. For some, the very idea is enough to make them want to pull the covers over their heads and stay there until it's all over.
Pathways Counseling Center is sponsoring a new type of group called Surviving the Holidays. Our wonderful grief support group leaders have planned a one-meeting format and are offering it this Sunday, November 16th and again on December 7th. Attendees will meet in First Baptist's Criswell Center on the 5th floor at 3:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. But, the warmth and understanding of those who have gone through such painful times - and who want to help others by sharing helpful practical helps (including a special devotional booklet just for use during the holidays) and being there for them - will be the real blessing.
If you - or someone you know - have experienced the pain of losing a loved one in death and would like to come, please join us this Sunday for Surviving the Holidays. You will find encouragement and spiritual help that may make all the difference this holiday season. Consider this your open invitation!
